Multicard reader install question...

I was thinking about getting a mpc 1000 or 2000/2000xl. I was wondering with the 2000/2000xl do you need to do any soldering or crimping to install a multicard reader inside the mpc? If so I think I'll just go with the 1000 to avoid the hassle.

Easy to do on the 2000XL will require some modification on the mpc2000.

but is there any soldering or crimping needed to be done on the xl

if the xl had a zip drive already installed then all you have to do is swap them and use the exact same wires that plugged into the zip drive. (no crimping or soldering)

dont know if its the same if you had the floppy drive originally

it looks like there is soldering wires involved... i think ill just go for the 1000 before i mess somethin

The install is easy....Check VST....I paid 150 for mine, got it within 2 days...No soldering or crimping....just disconnecting and reconnecting some fitted wires...

mine was floppy....just as easy...

I think the 1000 might be the best option for me now because $150 just for a card reader is ridiculous...i just bought one for my pc that was like 10 bucks. i guess its just that with the older technology its more expensive...thanks for the replies anyway

this card reader has 2 slots though...but I guess 150 ain't that much for some people...

yeah regular card readers with 15+ supported card types for pc run about 15-20 dollars. the one i got for my pc i got from newegg.com but i dont think they sell scsi card (which i believe is what the 2000xl takes?) readers anymore.
