Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

what up people....i have one of "those" questions....before i go further, yes i did check the manuals and the connections more than once. i am just trying to connect my reason, radium 49, and mpc. i have the 49 going to the midi out on the keyboard and the midi in on the mpc. i got sound from reason with the keyboard. i am on midi mode on track 2 on the mpc and when i try to record a sound from the keyboard into the mpc like the manual says i dont hear anything. where am i going wrong people?

did you set the modules (in Reason) to its dedicate midi channel?

far as i know i did. i went to the pref tab in reason and set it up too. everything seems right...am i still missing something or does anyone out there have this setup too? :(

I don't ever use Reason(i have it) or a radium but i have an Emulator X and a M-audio 49.I connect the M-audio into the mpc and from the mpc to the computer, similar to the way you have yours set-up.I set every device to the same channel and it works fine.I'm not sure if you have to do this on the Radium but on the M-audio you have to set that to the corresponding channel.

Peace.

i know i connected it properly....it just seems like i am missing a step somewhere on the software side of it but i did set the chnls on reason, the mpc, and the keyboard. i had my friend with me as well and he kept insisting that the keyboard needed midi in and out but it only has an out. that's fine right? it looked right in the manual.....frustrating :x

That's right.
Out of the radium into the mpc and out of the mpc into the cpu.
I think it has something to do with the channels.Make sure they all correlate and if possible see if you can set the channel on the radium.

Peace.

so wait....i have it connected like this:

cpu "usb" to radium
from radium midi "out"
to the mpc midi "in"

am i missing a cable connection somewhere then? does the mpc "out" have to connect to the cpu as well and how would you do that?

My understanding is you can tranfer data by USB but you have to configure your recording device/software to do this.On my production computer i have the 49key out to the mpc in and from the mpc out to the computer in.USB is just used to power the 49key.

Midi in and out....yeah.But if not you can always look into a midi interface like the M-audio (i think Unisport)

so i do need to connect this back to the computer then...is that where i am going wrong?...looks like i need to add more money to the project. is that interface expensive?

Dude I got the same problem and I cant figure it out. i have been to future produce forums also. and im not getting any help. The only difference is that I have a oxygen 8 midi controller. I have no problem with getting sound on the oxygen 8. All I did was plug into usb port of my cpu and go into preferences and set up the keyboard for reason and it works fine. Im making beats now with just reason and the oxygen 8. But Im tring to get my xl working with it too and no luck. Im just trying to use reasons as a sound module with the oxygen 8 and add that on top of what I have in my xl. But Im not getting any sound from reason in my mpc. Whats going on. I have a midi cord going out of the keyboard into the midi in 1 port of my xl. But still no sound. I think the connection is right maybe its sothing that we have to set up in the mpc so it can recognize reason. I dont know so can we get some help.

that's what i'm talkin about...someone with the same issue. yeah, it does seem that we have them connected right BUT if you read the prev replies here....is there supposed to be a midi cable from the mpc back to the computer somehow???? it seems right the way it is following the manuals though. how long have you been stuck?
