Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By studio4942 Tue Jul 11, 2006 5:58 pm
I'm debated on a couple of items to purchase.

1. Proteus 1000

or

2. 1GB CF card

The deal is that I have a 1GB SD card and a 265MB CF for my 2000xl. But I wanted to grab the 1GB for backup because obviously the 256MB is filling up quick. But there's an opportunity to grab this Proteus 1000 right now. Of course you know we always want more sounds at our disposal and I've been waiting to grab that Proteus joint for a while.

What would you do?

Determine which one is more important to me.

Either get more sounds, which can easily be done by digging for vinyl and even found all over the net.

or

Resolve a storage issue that could reduce work flow and productivity.

Well put Stryke :)

If you can get the Proteus 1000 for a bargain price then buy it as I'm sure you'll have the funds for the memory card within the next few weeks (especially since memory cards have just dropped in price recently).

It's up to you but I'd probaly get the Proteus 1000 (only if it was dead cheap) followed by the card shortly afterwards.

yeah get the 1000......you can always buy another CF card...they still make them but they don't make that 1000 anymore......don't pass up that opportunity....you will regret it......worse comes to worse and you need more memory to store something just buy the cheapest CF card you can find until your doe gets back up

buy a card reader for your computer and save your backup files there....

Damn! Thanks for you alls input. For some stupid reason I never thought about backing up my files to the computer. I guess because I've always thought that the computer would have trouble storing snd. files from the XL. But I ran up on a 1GB that was a good deal so I copped it. My plan was to then take the rest of the cash and save up or hustle real quick and then grab the Proteus 1000. But something else came up so I'm going to have to wait a bit.

But yeah, I do want that Proteus though. I'm kinda of a sound freak to. I know some will say "man, get you some vynl for your sounds...", which is cool, but I play keys so I would love to have all those other sounds at my disposal.

But word, thanks for all the advice.

Your computer doesn't care what it saves, lol.

On your mpc, if it makes you feel better, you can save as wav OR snd.

id save wav.......cuz it will be easier later to **** with your samples if you ever get a new mpc.

plus when you save your files to your computer, you can preview the wav with sound forge or media player........you cant with snd. unless you got that mpc program software
