Followed the instructions on the tutorial, got that problem that's (hardly) covered at the end of the tutorial. everythings in, installed, but my MPC wont boot. It stays wit the power on, every single light on the machine lit, and a blank screen. Can someone help me with this one? thanks.

your ide cable is not correctly connected. it is probably reversed meaning one of the ends, probably the one connected to the zip, is upside down. happened to me that way at least.

How am I supposed to reinstall the OS? put my floppy back? i think its too late for that, I snipped some wires so there's no going back. Any ideas?

Do you have a SCSI device that you can put the OS on? Like maybe a friend's zip drive? I'm sure you probably don't but it's an idea.

Just re-connect the wires using the terminal block that you used to make up the Zip power cable.

BTW, the reason that the booting problem is 'hardly' covered at the end of the tutorial is because I have never had that problem myself, hence I can't really talk about something I've never experienced personally. You'll get more info on that if you search the forums.

This is the exact reason for your problem.

The MPC boots up and detects the Zip drive. The problem was my cable was insterted into the zip the wrong way. Thanks for the help guys. MPC-Tutor, I didn't mean to offend you with any of my comments, your tutorial helped me do the dam thing.

Problem #2 arises. My set up is MPC + Zip 250, PC + external zip drive via USB, and a few Mac formatted zip disks.
The MPC reads the disk when it's in there, but after I format it on the MPC the PC wont read the disk.
If I format the disk on the PC, the MPC gives me disk read error.
I've been able to use this Mac disks on the PC before with no problem. Anyone got an idea on where I'm going wrong? Thanks.

PC cannot read MPC format disks.
MPC can read PC fat16 format disks, so as not to have any files inadvertently renamed use only 8 character filenames on the PC formatted disk.
