How long did it take you?

My Question is how long did it take you to master your mpc's? I've had mine for about a month and I've been doin more reading than playing. (partly because I dont have all of the equipment I want.) I just want to know how long it took everyone else cause it seems like its gonna take me about a year at my pace.

I've had mine since last October and I don't know anywhere near all of it!

I've never used step sequencing and a whole bunch of other stuff. Take your time with it man

I've used an mpc for almost 8 years and I still learn something new almost everyday. It's not just learning functions and techniques - it's also learning how to get the most of those functions and techniques. It's a deep machine...

Had it since April 2006 and haven't even began to scratch the surface on what is possible. I read the manual twice throughout and visit this forum daily, learning everyway possible.

back in 2003, i seen this dude using a 2000 classic, after that one time i kind of knew how to use it from then on.........the basic functions to make a beat anyway............i think i know it like 75%, welll enough to do what i want to do

lol don't know about 'master' but about a week (non stop) to cover what i needed to know on how to make a beat.

i got mine last month. already made a load of beats but nowhere near mastered it. Havnt touched some functions. and it mostly on getting your workflow in order and making good use of all the functions. just gotta keep at it .

i went pretty fast. but thats just me. i can sit in front of something for a few hours and learn how to use it. no matter what it is. but im a fst learner. i wouldnt say I mastered my mpc yet. i probably have a long way to go, but put it like this...im REAL comfortable with my machine.

i had my mpc about a week before I joined here. check out my join date under my name and that how long I had mine. up until now I think i've made lots of progress

take your time man. if its meant to be then you should have no problem moving up.

i got my first mpc in 01 to make beats to spit on, but i never touched it..

last year about a week before i joined here, i bought the 2k. i knew the basics, but was having some troubles with putting samples together.

but overall i havent mastered it yet.

wow, thought its been longer thtn that.

i'd say it took me about 3 to 8 weeks to really get comfortable but about 6-9 months to get to where i'd say i can do what ever i think of on it...
though learning minor "get arounds" and odd tricks i'll i'm sure always keep doing.
i came from an e-mu mp-7 though so really it was all about understanding the mpc work flow and ideas.. then executing. oh and midi....
