mpc2000xl, korg ms2000 keyboard question

hey everyone!
this problem has been annoying me for some time now and i'm hoping someone can help me out. i have my mpc and the korg linked up with midi cables. you know how at the bottom of the mpc screen to get the keyboard to sequence (i believe in the S: heading) you change that to device 01A. when it's set that way, you can make the keyboard notes play on the mpc pads, and that's all fine and dandy cuz i can turn that off if i want to so only the mpc sounds play. HOWEVER, certain keyboard keys will correspond to the mpc buttons, so if there is a drum sample on B01, that sample will play ON THE KEYBOARD when i hit a specific key. so it will play the keyboard note, as well as whatever mpc sound is on it (this is on the keyboard, remember). i've been having to work around the problem, and i'm hoping it has a simple answer. i've tried the whole global mode thing and that didn't work, so i'm stumped. thanks for the help.

If all you want to hear is the Ms your MPC should reflect:

Midi: 1A -Device-o1 (midi channel may vary pending on how many and what channel you are using.

Drum 1 off (program name)

To hear just the MPC internal sounds Drum 1 and either new pgm or whatever name you my have saved the program under should be viewable. If you hear a midi sound just highlght the midi number/channel showing and turn it to the left. Thus turning off your midi reception for that track and leaving only the MPC internal sounds to be heard.

Now I have a question. How do you have your MS midi'd up to the MPC. A friend of mine has a MS2000, the keyboard not module and we've been trying to figure out how to set the MS settings up?

thanks for your help. well, i have a midi cable from the keyboard 'out' to the mpc 'in' and another cable from the mpc 'out' to the keyboard 'in.' to sync it up, make sure the channel is set on the mpc to 01A, and then go to the GLOBAL menu on the ms2000. i believe page 3 of the global menu is for midi, you make sure global mode is set to 'on' and then on another sub-page within midi page 3, you change the midi channel to match that of the mpc, and you should be all good. that's where my problem starts however. i have no problem making it work, but certain mpc sounds will play when you hit corresponding keys on the keyboard. hope that helps.

Thanx for the info. Sorry about that last post, I just looked at it again and I noticed I wrote it wrong. I went back and edited it so now it's on point. As for your MPC sounds playing when you hit the key board keys it's because you have your keyboard into the MPC midi in. Not at all set up wrong, you just need to make sure you turn the MPC off so to speak. As long as your drum setting reflects the example I gave you yesterday you won't be having that problem. Just make sure you turn your drum/samples off on the track you are using midi on.
