disk read error

Just got a 2000 on ebay, all excited. Turn in on with the boot disk in. The screen will read "boot rom v 1.00", then it will come up "disk read error" and a few lights will be lit up.
The start up disk is labeled v 1.72. I got another disk and downloaded 1.72, copied the two files to the disk and still got the same thing. Any thoughs.. I thought the disk drive is bad and was going to replace that today to see......
I need to get started please help me....... I got a new toy and cant get it to work.. I think they call that torture.....

Get a brand new floppy disk. That disk is probally been read to much and has hit its dying days. If u try a brand new disk and still no luck then try replacing the floppy drive which uses standard PC 34pin Floppy Drives. But it seems to me that it is the disks that are bad which is an normal problem. Recommend u invest in a SCSI multicard reader which can easily be found on www.ebay.com or www.scsi4samplers.com .
