hey. i got this sample right... and when i heard it, i noticed it had a smooth backdrop melody real low in the background. i checked the sample on the trim screen & noticed it had two different waveforms (right & left). is there anyway i can seperate the two into 2 different samples by panning the mixer settings?

i've tried that trick already but i still hear the sample mixed together. i'm trying to isolate the backdrop, feel me?

Yo Shaman, to lett you see i ain't a bastard all the time :D

Why not do this? I do this all the time.

Load ur samples into a wave editor first (i use soundforge). Open the sample and create 2 new empty stereo parts. then drag and drop the right side of the sample 2 times (left, right) to the empty stereo part. Then do the same for the left side of the sample.

Now u have 2 of the same samples with different sound. Load them into ur mpc and voila! start buildin them beats dog! 8)

(I normally just overwrite the bad sounding part with the good one, then copy that 2 times, place hpass filter on one,. and a lowpass filter on the other. So i have one sample without bass and one with bass)

yea definately. its good you noticed that. a lot of the time you can grab indivdual instruments this way. the left migh have more of the sax in it, but the right might have more keys in it...

you can either seperate these in your audio editor or within your mpc. in audition, just copy either the left or right channel and paste as a new waveform. save that joiint.

in the mpc, goto trim screen, pick yout sound and highlght the name. press open window, then hit convert. then goto program screen and assign either the left or right sample. you'll see how it split up on the assign screen.

good catch. peace

thanks for the input fellas. i'll give it another swing.

Lampdog- my bad, i thought the 2xl had that type of feature

poast pr- you aren't bad after all. too bad i can't load my sample on soundforge- i sampled my joint from a record

smoove- i'm gonna try that tonight. hopefully it'll work out.

Well thank u! :D

But why can't u do that? Just transfer the sample to ur pc with a cf card/ zip/ floppy (whatever u use). And then open it in soundforge... I do it all the time... :? :D :D good luck.

for some reason it says it doesn't read the waveform, even though i changed it to a .wav file. i don't know. f#ck it. thanks anyways.
