You can do this with several small things, like filters, fx, modules.

I'm going to look for a small module or fx/filter (maybe both) and see if i can do the same with my mpc 2kxl. If i f* up i just buy the blue frame (was planning on doing that anyway). I won't f* with the powersuply though like in the link, i want to do this without messing with the mpc itself (just the frame).

It would be nice for traveling and live use, u would only have to take the mpc with u, and have a synth or etc right in there!.

Only thing i can think of are the space inside and problems with ventilation perhaps? Someone?

Any ideas/suggestions/dangers/problems are welcome!

The Nord modular that is fitted in there must be the mini one at the bottom of the picture. This needs to be used with a computer to edit it properly, but it is a good space-saving idea to share the case of the Yamaha.

Good idea, but you need to think how to do the midi routing to the internal module. Plus if the module needs a screen for editing where are you going to put that?

Something from the Alesis Nano range might fit. (Nanosynth, nanopiano, nanobass.) A big range of presets in each & all controlled just from front knobs.

Thats sneak theifs RS7000, he did that a few years back. Very cool and inspirational. Sure its usefull and makes it easier to cary around more gear, but you have to physically have that much extra room inside the box to make it happen. Most synths are not going to fit in another box. It all comes down to the internals fitting and being able to reroute controllers and connections somewhere. The Micro Modular is one of the best candidates because its insides are so small and just 4 knobs, 3 buttons and a 2 digit LED display. But then you also need 4 audio jacks, power and 4 midi jacks. Very few boxes are going to have room for all that right there, especially the way the MPC is designed. You'll have to have some dremel and electrical skills.

You would not need to internally route the midi unless you wanted to steal an entire midi out (big waste for a monotimbral synth). Hooking it up to a computer for editing is not a big deal, its done through midi anyway (just like people do with their MPC), another reason why you would not want it routed internally. The Nord modular is a cool device because it can be used as a synth and/or effects processor... so you could use it as an organ, bass line, drums, run one of your MPC outs through a filter with a delay on it, vocoder, etc.

I'm Gonna buy that Nord Micro Modular. Won't place it inside my mpc though... Smoove is right, there isn't much room in the mpc. And i don't wanna **** up my prescious baby!

But that Nord MM is the ish! I really wanna have one. Seen em on a 2nd hand site for €200,- now.... Most def gonna cop one!

It's a great buy, and totally worth what it sells for. Its often called a live or studio swiss army knife since its capable of so much. There are tens of thousands of free patches out there! If you are not familiar with modulars, there is a steep learning curve if you want to program from scratch (although will teach you a lot of important synth fundementals). But since there are so many patches out there already, you can probably find anything you need right from the start and tweak from there. Even though there are only 3 knobs, you can assign tons more midi knobs to react to it. So a simple 8 knob midi controller could make it even crazier for tweaking. And of course all of that can be easily automated into the MPC.
