There is a chart of timestretch formulas on this website:

It's originally written for the Akai S3000xl, but I'm sure it'll work for the MPC.
Basically, say you have a sample loop that you want to pitch up higher or lower without changing the speed of the loop................
You just figure out how many semitones(half steps) higher or lower you want it.....and then this chart tells you what timestrech % setting to use.
It sounds more complex than it is, there is a full explanation on this page.
I used to use chart this when I was on a S3000xl, but I haven't ever heard anyone in here talking about it. Maybe it's old news (?) I don't know.
