**WHAT SHOULD I DO??**

My F5 button is jammed. I could still use it but I have to press it a few times and it's annoying as hell. I think that's the most press button on the machine cause it's the DO IT FUNCTION. My question is should I open up my MPC and try to fix it?? Or send it away to get it fixed. I don't want to mess it up worse. But I installed my zip drive, memory, 8 outputs and fx board so I have experience working on it. What do you guys think I should do???

Oil and dirt builds up. Fingers (the whole) human body produce oil secretions.

I would remove the face carefully and remove the residue around that button.

Installing a board is different than working on a button.
I would fix it myself cause I have a good idea of how to,
but I don't wanna tell you to do that.

I feel ya on this one man, my shift button is getting loose and my play start button lays lower than the rest and is loose also...just a waiting game now to see how long these buttons will last before theyre useless and im sendin mine out...

you know my 2kxl is at the shop as we speak...


the shift button was loose for awhile, then it just caved in...had to take it, my shit was shut down for a minute...


my play buttton is loose as a ****...the step buttons have been f*cked up for a minute, so I told 'em to fix those, but I didnt' think about the "do it", or the "6" key, 'cause "shift-6" be gettin a workout constantly

my start button was broken too recently but i fixed it ..

the buttons are held with a plastic frame liked thing

use a glue that dries fast soo you can attach the 2 pieces that are broken

I see some of my friends who pound the buttons when they play and to stop the sequence they hit the stop hard as heck. I caress my buttons and they give me what I want. My ASR10 has buttons that don't even click anymore when pressed because I abused my buttons like crazy a while back and never got it fixed. Now with the MPC I only press as hard as needed to get the click and data entered. Take care of your buttons peoples, they have feelings..

I helped a friend out who had a similar problem.
His was the 2000 (non XL) Man those things are a B***h to break down. Anyhow, the glue tip was on point. All that is needed is for a surface to make contack on the board itself anyhow. While wer're talking about do it yourself repairs. Some of you MPC 2000 users should you be experiencing static on your mpc when you adjust your volume to fix that problem is very simple. This static is caused due to a gap in contact under your volume knob. Just pop the top and tighten the nut on the volume screw and Ta Da.
