Harddrive Error with 2000XLMCD

I just recieved a harddrice & CD-Rom combo which I order from the States yesterday. So the first thing I do is read the instructions and it says that I have to format the HD. So I connect the combo up to the MPC turn everything in the same order as the instructions say, and as I hit "DO IT" to format the HD and error message appears on the screen. So I tried to it hit the main screen button but the MPC is frozen. I call up the gentleman who sold me the combo(real nice man) and he informs me that I am not the first one to have the error message with this type of HD & MPC2000XL. So my question is there anything I can do to make the combo work with out having to send it back to the States(shipping is a killing!).

PS. I only got 30 days to send it back to him from Canada for refund/exchange.

I have the feeling u bought it from www.scsi4samplers.com Did you? Well ne ways he didnt give u any other solutions other than just return it? Thats strange.

Yes...I did get it from scsiforsamplers.com. The service is very good I called the guy up and he offered some solutions. However its shipping that is worrying me. However I'm going to send him an e-mail and hopefully we can work things out.
