No More Zip drives?

Has anyone else besides me noticed that the Zip-Drives which i use to store my sample/all/aps files, are now being made exlusively for USB use...
What am i supposed to do when my current Zipdrive wears out?

SCSI is an old standard from the 1980's. There are still plenty of SCSI drives for sale through the web. Some local stores in my area have them but they won't be around forever. You can either buy a spare drive now or wait for the MPC2500XL next year and then upgrade. It ought to have a USB port and CompactFlash like the MPC1000.

Well i can always update...
But my point is, -i love my Mpc2000. More than life itself.
I also have a Mpc60 and those two machines are my babies.
I want to be able to use it till the day my fingers fall off from tapping it.
Is there no way around that friggin USB virus?

You will have to search for used SCSI ZIP drives. Many people on these boards ahve pointed out that SCSI ZIPs aren't made anymore. 2nd hand used drives seems like the only way.

I copped my on Ebay for about $10-15. You can still find them on Ebay. You can probably get it real cheap. Just make sure the seller guarantees it works and that the seller has good feedback. Also, I'd order the SCSI cable on Ebay, too. If you try to get one from a computer store they're a bit overpriced.

Yeah, like I saw one SCSI cable for like $69.

yea..big emphasis on making sure the seller has good rating. i personally had a VERY bad first impression (still lasting) w/ SCSI's. I ordered a 50/25pin cable..and that sht didn't work with my XL. Im pissed, I will not go through the hassle of buying another on ebay, only to find out that one of the ports is burned out or something. SCSI is archaic..its like a stone wheel...some things are good vintage....cassettes, vinyl, old typewriters, ..these have a classic feel taht make u reminisce....but SCSI's too me are just too fragile and inefficient. usb is the new standard...wish i had done my research...cause all my beats are on floppy disks. Im dying to get a ZIP... (im a have to find someone who can install an internal for me...one of yall technicians)

Bena, What you got an XL? You can do a self install so easy it's not even funny. Anyone here who has done an install before can walk your through it in about 1 1/2 hour. Go and buy a 250mb internal Atapi IDE drive (around $60-75 possibly) along with one little jumper to go in the back, and a hard drive power plug (same as in your computer - you know the red/black/black/yellow) and I will walk you through it via Yahoo/MSN/AOL chat. I hardly agree and computer experts would not agree either. But the admin might say this is not on topic for the forum.

The worlds fastest and most powerful computers use SCSI systems. SCSI is a lot more robust, easier to implement, out performs IDE systems.

SCSI is the high-end storage format. Everything else is just `consumer`.
