?'s from the scrub; scsi problems! is there a fuse somwhere?

for years i've been without a scsi device. ("1998") i decided to plug my zip drive in while every thing was up and running so now ("2006") im drowning in floppies. i cant afford a comp. yet! but need deliverance soon. is there some sort of a fuse or posibility that a scsi port can blow?

im pretty sure that if you detach the scsi device while the mpc is still going it will blow the scsi fuse. maybe try getting an internal drive, a scsi or ide card reader for instance.
