Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By andrzej00 Thu Sep 07, 2006 1:40 pm
serious thing right now.
i know that it could be much different
maybe someone can hack a little bit the os for the classic 2k version ?
for example:
-the directory reading (like in XL version) would be great.
-zone'ing style like in XL
-multiple program reading at a time
what you think? is it possible?

i think the engine of both mpc's don't differ much, so maybe the JJ's could help us?

or maybe apply the whole os from the XL?

Well it aint gonna happen through Nukai... that's for damn sure!
The only chance of it happening is maybe JJ or Rohan. I'm not sure if either of them are interested. But if the demand for those features were high, who knows? JJ or Rohan may or may not consider it. My advice would be to get as many 2k users here in this thread as possible. Addressing this with Rohan or JJ at this point wouldnt warrant much of a response yet, if at all. Just get as many heads interested as possible. Maybe someone else with coding knowledge might be interested in taking on the task.

A good workaround would be to buy an xl.

Rohan is the MPC 60/3000 guru. He's been developing an OS for the 3000, and his screen-name is mpc3000le. Read through his posts in the mpc60/3000 forum. You'll learn alot from him.
He's also highly reguarded by Roger Linn as well....

MIDI File Conversion Utility for the MPC60

Have you lost the MIDI File Conversion Utility Disk included with version 3.10? If so, you can download it here.

NOTE: As of 8/10/05, our good Rohan Mansell of Australia found a problem in the file we previously had here and made this corrected version:

1. Download the file MPC60MFC.zip.
2. On Windows, uncompress the downloaded file using WinZip from www.winzip.com. On Mac, uncompress using Stuffit Expander, included in Mac OS. The uncompressed file is called 'mpc60mfc.sys'.
3. Copy this file to an MPC60-formatted floppy disk. (If this doesn't work, try formating a floppy to Windows 720k format in a Windows or Mac computer and copying the file to this disk. Don't use 1.4 meg disk format.)
4. Insert the disk in your MPC60's drive and turn power on. After about 20 seconds, instructions will appear on the screen to guide you through the process of converting your MIDI or SEQ file.

PS- For anyone reading this post, I would strongly suggest NOT to bug Rohan with PMs and/or any outlandish or RTFM questions! He's an asset to the forums and he deserves to be respected as such. So please don't abuse the knowledge he drops over on the 60/3000 forums. Just read and learn from him. Do your homework before asking any questions up there.
