mpc viruses

if i download a couple of waves from the net on to disk and then load them up on my mpc is there anyway possible i could get a virus on the mpc

You might catch the Beat Virus. It loads itself into Flash ROM. Then everytime you power on the MPC it transfers itself into a sequence and doesn't allow you to remove it. You have to play the same sequence forever.

Theoretically it would be possible for someone to write a virus for MPC, but the only way it could be loaded would be if you disguised it as the OS files on a boot disk. (assuming there are no safeguards against this in the boot loader firmware)

This would be pretty pointless since there's no permanent storage onboard most MPCs (not including diskette/zip drives) and I don't know that it would be easy to take control of outboard storage, etc.

Anyway, fun things to think about. Maybe Goins can hack the OS files and write a little MPC screen saver or something. mpc3000?

I heard it's a sequence that eminem programmed.
If you get it, the only remedy is to trash your mpc. Or cut off your ears.

virus? of course not although mine has been crashing more of late.....
