How important is a MIDI Controller???

I'm thinking about buying 1 2day. I've had my MPC2000xl for like 5 months, i'm very comfortable with it now, so now i'm tryin to add some new components. I need some direction/understand with this. Good Lookz!!!

If you plan to use an external MIDI sound module then yes. If you plan on staying in the MPC with all of your productions I say no. I have 2 setups my MPC 3000 with all of my MIDI gear for studio work and my 1000 by itself and I would only use a midi controller for the studio, not in my lap.... I have honestly made some of my best tracks strictly in the MPC without other modules. But I like to play some things out like piano style so I would use my studio setup for that.

I think he actually means a MIDI controller and not a MIDI sound module...
