MFC42 noisy

I just bought a 2nd hand mfc42 filter module, and im dissapointed with the noise level of the thing. If you listen carefuly ou can here the noise within a fuly balanced signal like piano or drums. There also a zoom tone in it.

Is this normal for this machine???? Can anyone give me some kind of refference on what noise level is normal????
