how to get dirty dj shadow style drums?

every time i listen to endtroducing i am just amazed by the drums this guy laid down. i was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to get those gritty, dirty style drum sounds that he has. i can never find records with drum sounds like that.

first of all use the search function...
then dig, layer, eq and compress

His 12bit mpc60 also helped him get that gritty punch..

+ he samples vinyl ....... sample a 33 3/3 record on 45 rpm instead and then lower the speed inside your sampler. Then you get an grittier sound

and a few tricks that you guys said, that I must remember and practice.
I love Entroducing... I defined it as the purest form of Hip-hop at one time.

i remember hearing an interview with him.. and he said he did not even use his mpc for that album except one or two songs. He said he made most of the drums on the computer.

I read a article that said all he used was a technics 1200 and MPC-60II and mixer and mabye some fx...

any one tried putting the samples on beat like he does, so its dj friendly, you get a differet feel that way,
