MPC Editor prob?

What's up e'rybody. Okay, so I downloaded the MPC Editor and created a test program for my MPC......but when I try to play the program via the pads, the sounds play distorted for a couple of secs and then cut out completely!! The program that I created were simple one shot drum hits from Fruity Loops. Here's what I did: I downloaded the parallel port drivers from the Iomega site and installed them. 2) then I placed a blank zip 100 disk into the zip drive 3) I added the one shots and tried to export to the zip disk, but a dialog box popped up saying that i had to format the zip disk......so i chose "quick format" and formatted it. 4) when i placed it in the scsi zip(MPC) i realized that I had to do another format for the MPC to recognize it....so i did 5) knowing that the format would erase everything on the zip disk, i placed it back in the parallel zip drive and re created my program and saved and exported it again to the zip.

Should I have formatted the zip disk on the MPC first? Does it matter? Could my zip disk be ruined? I'm searching but can't find anything on this so far. Can anyone help me out with this? Thanks in advance... peace

I kno exactly what your talkin' bout fam! Except, mines wont play a sound AT ALL!!!

When using MPC Editor DO NOT SAVE TO A Floppy, Zip, ect. save to your Hardrive first(my documents, desktop, ect..). Also make sure u are going to FILE>Export Program and Samples. Once u do that then go to where its located on your hard drive and copy/move it to your media(floppy, zip, ect...). Let me know what happens then.

What i did was "FILE>Export Program & Samples" straight to the zip drive.
Are you saying I should do "FILE>Export Program & Samples" to the hard drive first? Or do a "FILE>Save Program & Samples" to the hard drive and then a "FILE>Export Program & Samples" from the hard drive to the zip? Sorry to be so elementary, but i just want to make sure i understand you. Thanks Nic. I'm at work and my MPC is at the crib!!

I think this may solve the problem! Ima try it as soon as I go home, I've been savin' it straight to zip myself! I'll be home in about a half an' hour, I'll let u kno how it goes!

Did you use the DIsk option in the MPCeditor to format the ZIP?
That will solve a lot of the headaches.
There is no reason why you can't go straight to ZIP.

Thanks for replying. I don't remember using the "disk option" you speak about, but when the software prompted me to format the disk, I did. A format screen popped up and i clicked on "quick format"!! peace

I didnt have any problem whatsoever saving straight to disk. the problem i had lies in the trial time. It says u get a free 30 days to check it out and all but it only let me use it for like 6-7. Anyone else ever had this prob?

I tried this last night and when I tried to load onto my MPC i got the error message "can't find file"....could formatting be the issue? I formatted a brand new zip disk and partitioned it A-C!! Should it only be partitioned
A-A? I'm just throwing this out there. i don't know if this could be the cause or not. Can somebody just tell me what steps you took format-wise? Did you format your zip on the MPC and MPC Editor? It really drives me crazy when I hear others talk about how smoothly theirs are running when I'm struggling like a mother***** to get mine working .......anyways, thanks in advance for any replies!! worked for me straight to floppy sounds were fine...but I formated it first with the disk option in the mpc editor.

yeah.the disk worked fine in my mpc 2000 classic.

Thanks for replying again. I am still using the demo. Did the option you chose say something like "MPC XP Disk formatter"? That's what mine says. ANd when I tried to format using that, a dialog box appears and says that this option is for the MPC 3000!! Did yours say the same? ANd is this what you used? This is really f***ing with my head!!
