Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

im using the mpc to trigger the sounds and sequence them but when i change the track on the mpc and try and put a diffferent group of sounds on the track it changes the sounds on the first track, is there anyway to basically lock say a drum pattern onto track one then for track2 goto the rack for a horn without the changing the drums on the frist track? hopefully that made sense.

USE MULTI mode... let me explain.

Just to get things started (and state the obvious), make sure the "midi out" of the MPC is plugged into the "midi in" of the Motif-Rack ES, and that both of the audio outs of each unit is plugged into a mixer of some sort.

* From the main screen of your Motif Rack, hit "MULTI" closer to the right side of the rack. You should see "New R&B."

* User 001-032 are all presets, so scroll to "User:033" that should be "Init Multi."

* Press "MULTI" again and it should enter a new screen. Part 1,2,3... represents the midi channels, currently all channels should be set to BankLSB 0, VoiceNo. 1 which is the Ap:Full Grand piano.

* Set each "Part" to a desired voice, then set the corresponding midi channels on your MPC (which I'll assume you already know how to do).

* You're done. Hope this helps.
