Saving a drum program to a sequence

Is there a way to save a drum kit program to a sequence, so that when I load the .wav files they will go back to seq. that used those samples when the MPC is restarted

ie Seq1-Kit1
Seq2-Kit2 etc.

I'm not sure how it works with 2000 classic,but if you've got 2000xl,tahn the best thing is to save with All programs and Sounds option and after that All Sequences and Songs.When you load your stuff later,samples should be located in the same kits that they were before.
Not sure 100 percent about that though (sth like 95 )...Lamp will know 4 sure

Your answer is CORRECT. On top of that te saving all sounds and programs option also saves all your mixer settings and midi sync settings along.

You actually only need to save the sequence and the program to keep what you need. Save ALL seq and pgr to keep things simple and save every possible setting... but if you save everything that way, you will only be able to load one program at a time. I typically will just save programs (with sounds) and sequences in their own folders for each track/idea. For big projects or live sets, saving all is the way to go.

PS. Mixer settings (with fx) are stored in single programs too but you need ALL for the midi sync.

I think you have some of your terminology mixed up
Sounds get programmed to pads, which pads they go on is a program.
Sequencing is when you play those pads at certain times and velocities etc.
You want to save what pads your .wav files go on, so save a .APS file. When you save you can save with sounds so it puts the sounds on the disk and the .aps file which is what pads they go on.

I understand that. I want to know why when I load a seq. and prg. w/ wav after i had the power off, why doesnt my seq. have the sounds that i use in that loop it defaults to the first drum program i have. I have to go into program and manual select the program for that seq. Is this common?

Why are you loading a program that doesn't go with the sequence? Just load your sequence or .all file and load your .prg or .aps file. One program, one sequence.

When you are dealing with .PRG, you have to make sure its assigned to the correct DRUM kit. Often when you load more than one, they can get out of place and you need to be sure the correct program is assigned to the correct DRUM (since you can have up to 24 programs loaded and 4 active DRUM slots). Only takes a couple clicks to assign, but if this bothers you, you should just use .APS and it will always be the way you had it before.
