tips on drum laying

i wanna know if every body can give me some tips on laying drums and percussion. i know how to lay drums but just wanna turn it up a notch

Give more detail on exactly what you are trying to do? Are you trying to layer a sound or make the sound louder?

im just trying to make it sound better i feel that my drums are to boring and i want some thing more live but just more juicy i dont know how to explain

take advantage of your si mult...

double or tripple up frequencies that make your drums BANG...try panning the layers after (one frequency to the left, next on the right, and original in the center...) Experiment with what u think suits your style...

or save it till u do a mixdown and juice em up in you mastering suite..what ever it may be..PRO TOOLS,NUENDO, CUBASE, ABLETON...peace and good luck..

I like to layer 3 farts together ... I put a hi pass on the really low fart and just let the hi end fart just stink well in the mix

how do u up the frequencies on the mp?

Go to your program screen, select whatever drum kit you want to use, then hit the pad and go to parameters and youll see frequency and some other parameters you can change.

Also, as a side question do you guys layer sounds by just having one pad trigger another or do you just hit both pads at the same time or whats the secret.

i usually have on pad trigger two drums at the same time. because it is easier to adjust the pitch,decay, and all that sh@t ,of both sounds individualy so they fit nice together.

Im not sure if naVi meant that, I mean you cant really turn freq. up in the params. window or did I overlook something that big?

The way I do it is with the EB-16 Effects Board, I recently purchased it and now I can truly make my drums BANG, you have a 4 Band EQ and tune up any freq. you want and that does wonders to your kicks.

I do it like juxt, use the simultaneous option make sure your sample matches (or not if you want that) and you dont have to have any trouble when recording your sequences because if youre not recording with the timing option that it. It basically depends on what you really want, it can give a certain 'feel' to the beat or it can sound totally wack.
