i do it on the pc first.. I will group 64 drum sounds in folders. lets say 16xhats 16xkicks 16xsnares and 16xother. I will then use the MPCEDITOR software to create my programs. i will put say 4 of each type of sound per BANK.. A-D. so by switching banks it gives me access to 4xsnare 4xkick 4xhat 4xother. I then make a folder on my CF card and then throw those 64 sounds the program uses and the program file the mpceditor software made for me into the folder. I will name the program file say DRUMS1 and also the folder containing all this stuff will be the same name. then all I have to do to load these is browse to the folder on the mpc.. load the program.. and go.

some tips:

try to keep your sounds names under 8 chars. I like to have my sounds nummericly named and my program/fodlers as the real identifier. This makes it easier as mpceditor will truncate names. I use this software that turns all files in a folder into numbered filenames.. like 1.wav and so on.

I also like to turn all my wav's into snd's. By loading my program and then resaving it with new sounds to the same folder.. then when i have a chance i go through my card and clean out the old wavs that are no longer needed.. snd is a better format imo, it makes sound file size smaller and also loads faster.

I am still learning tons about my xl everyday. I have not had it for all that long so some things I am telling you could be the worst way to be doing it. BUt it seems to work fine for me. Good luck
