LSB MSB

I've done the search option on here but cannot find my answer:

Here is my situation

I have MPC 2000xl and Roland GW-7 keys

I have both hooked up via midi in and out, no prob

Now, in sequence, I have about 8 tracks. on the mpc, I'm able to go to Progr. on the bottom right and scroll through 127 different sounds from the GW-7 but I am wanting to access all 600 patches from my synth.

I heard that on each track I can go in and change an LSB or MSB number to the corresponding patch number of the Synth sound I want but I have NO CLUE how to get into that. The akai manual did not help me much in that

So basic question, How do I on each track in the MPC 2000xl choose which sound (600 total) from my synth to use?

For program changes, in your mpc manual, read up on step edit and program changes that can be set within it.

Is your keyboard multitimbral? ie. more than 1 midi channel at a time?

If so try within the same sequence, different track for each different program in the keyboard , midi track type. Each keyboard programs need to be assigned a different midi channel number.

Look at your roland manual for lsb/msb listings to see what's what.

32 midi channels is max on the 2kxl, 600 at one time, I don't think so.

Yes, the keys is multi timbral, and I am able to have different tracks/sounds playing.

My problem, I'm wanting to access more sounds then the first 127 sounds. So when I'm setting a track in the MPC 2000xl, for example track one is say piano, so I go tr:01-track-1
s:midi:1a device and on the right, in pgm: i only have 127 sounds to choose from. How come it's only 127? How can I access the rest of the sounds?

I know i probably sound stupid and the answer is so simple.

Ok, so I went to the link. What I can do is use the 1 bank (127 sounds) and just put all my favorite sounds within the 127. SO now how do I do that. The page the link displayed did not explain how to do that.

Meaning the one bank that I will use, how to change a patch (LSB MSB) for a number.

you have to look up the msb/lsb info for your board, try the back of the manual or in some cases the manufacturer includes a "voice list" manual...

Yea, I have the list of the lsb and msb of my synth. I'm trying to figure out how to enter it into the mpc. Meaning pgm on the front of the mpc goes up to 128th sound. I'm wanting to replace some of those sounds with a different sound. How do I do that in the mpc knowing the lsb and msb numbers of my synth

right, read up the manual upon cc#, you enter them in the stepeditor. The rest is in the link about changing banks.

and my prob now is entering them in step editor. I see some posts with the steps of this but they are not working for me. I am using a 2000xl and the way people are talking about getting into it and doing this is not working

Coo, Thanks for that link. I'm trying to follow it. Now at the beginning of that thread you said you showed him how to insert the MSB and LSB a month prior. Can you give me that info? on how to insert it where he had the three sets of numbers

Make sure you enter all these commands at the beggining of the sequence. Some voices only require the Bank Sel MSB, the manuals to whatever equipment your using should say what's what.

I do it just like this except i don't insert the program change message, i just change the program on the main screen of my 2k classic. I use an mk-6 and I had to turn receive program changes to on. I think it should be similar on most synths/sound modules. Also in your manual look for the bank select commands to see the proper msb and lsb for the bank you want to select. If you do it like this you can audition all the patches in a bank after you send the control change message(s)
