MPC2000XL w/o Mixer

I have recently purchased an XL (w/ 8 outs), and have not picked up a mixer yet. Before getting the mpc, I was only using computer software. Can I do the 'mixing' via software or is it imperitive to get a mixer?
I was wondering how you guys would overcome this missing piece of the puzzle.

just get yourself a mixer it will come in handy. but to answer your question no you dont necessarily need to get a mixer, you can mix your tracks through your recording software.

the tough part is recording all those parts into the computer w/o a mixer b/c you would have to track them in one by one

a mixer REALLY does come in handy, b/c you can also EQ your mix a bit before it lands into the computer

a mixer can help out a lot but it isnt necessary like the other guys said. i think to use the 8 outs without a mixer, you may need a soundcard with 8 inputs on it. i dont see how else you could do that.

but if you had a mixer, you can plug all 8 into the mixer (if you have enough channels) and use the mixer's output and go directly into your soundcard input. you would have to record 1 instrument at a time, but it dosnt take long at all.

Or just forget the mixer and get a soundcard that has eight inputs.
The inputs allow you to record stuff simultaneously and seperately.
Unless you have some really fancy eq/compression/fx analogue outboard the
computer will be better than a cheap Mixer for processing and mixing.
