200xl program memory issue

I have been having two seperate problems with the mpc involving programs...

One issue is that when I create a seccond program and then change a track to be using that program the track info is cleared when I leave that main screen. The track is still set to program 2 but it looses all the info on when to play what.

Also I have had trouble with the mpc remembering the drum program assigned to drum 1 -4. I will assisn a program to drum 2 but when I play the song and go back it resets drum 2 to program 1... kind of confusing but hopefully you get the idea...

Is there something I am doing wrong? Do I need to be saving something? broken mpc? please help if you can.

When you load/create a new program it gets placed in drum 1 automatically. You have to manually go into params and change them around again, there's no way around that when building programs, the 2kxl just does that all on it's own. Make sure you change them back around where you want them to be before you start playback/recording.

But that is the problem, i go into the program window and set them how I want it but when I leave the wndow and play another sequence the programs get changed back... the mpc wont keep the programs set how I tell it. and it wont remember track info for tracks that I set to play from program 2.

Maybe you have some programs changes going on and you don't realize it. To find them try turning of timing, step edit, and look through EACH track in your sequences and look for the programs changes that might be causing the program changing problem.

I don't understand this one. Track info like what specifically?

What type of program change could i have? where do i set program changes? I can set what program to playa track from but what other than that?...

Like it goes from playing the loop to not playing anything, and I have to recopy from a different track/re-record to get it to play again.

Bars beats and ticks are explained in the manual.

I already spelled it out for you.

Like it goes from playing the loop to not playing anything, and I have to recopy from a different track/re-record to get it to play again.

Again, in STEP EDIT you might want to try different DECAY settings, your loops are most likely too long and overlap the retriggereing of the same loop when the sequence loops back around, so, you need to cut down on the DECAY in SETP EDIT, ie, maybe a loop starts directly at the beginning of a 2 bar sequence 001.001.01 (bar, beats, ticks), remember the 96ppqn rule, 96 ticks -> 1 beat, 4 beats -> 1 bar, all together a 2 bar sequence, 96 x 8 -> 768 decay count in step edit for a 2 bar loop. If your loop hit decay is more than that you will not hear it retrigger on the loop around.

You just gotta remember, EVERY TIME YOU MAKE A NEW PROGRAM, you gotta hit shift+program, select drum1, and then go to top of next screen and scroll to the program you want. Then do the exact same thing with all programs you now have in the machine. And when you save, you gotta save ALL PROGRAMS. Renaming them usefully will help also.

YO LAMP...are you refering to the 'loop' function in the trim mode? I never use this, and always use my sequence programming to loop stuff.
Is there some killer application to trim mode looping, or is it just redundant?
