Do you have a mixer already? Analog or digital? or is it just your computer? Do you have a software prefference? If it's just your computer, I'm always repping for that MAudio Firewire 1814. 8 unbalanced analog inputs. 4 balanced. Two mic preamps that combo as front panal instrument inputs. 8channel fiber optic i/o section. Stereo digital spdif. Plus it comes with protools. It's a good deal. That also means, if you ever get any lightpipe capable mixer or even the stereo lightpipe on your playstation audio output...you can use those input/outputs simultaniously with the analogs. That means you actually get up to 16 simultanious inputs, or more. Same as a digi002, but alot cheaper. Good starter box, and sounds fine. Do it, you won't be sorry. My homie has the lesser model, the one below that, and uses it with Logic , reason, and tracking vocals. Works fine.
Hope that helps, but there are also about 100 different models out there that offer 8 channel input. That's my favorite, but look around...
