Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I've looked around and even called Akai with no sign of help.. So I decided to come here and hope to get some help. Basically I'm able to load the sounds from the sound library CD by transferring it to my Flash Card (which is 1GB so its not the space). But the problem is I can only load the sounds individually. I can't load the sounds as a .PGM which is really cumbersome if I just want to mess around or lay something down real quick. If I load the .PGM only one high hat will be set to the A14 pad, the rest will not be found and I'm just getting irratated with it. Any help would be appreciated!

I just went through that drama over the past 3 weeks ago or so, with my new XL-MCD (MPC newbie).

The thing to remember is the file name "rule" for the XL; file names should be no more than 8 characters. Otherwise, the MPC may not load all your sounds. That's what I've found when the MPC can't find certain sounds in a .PGM file. The problem with the Sound Library CD is that there are plenty of files with names longer than 8 characters. I found that out the hard way...

You need to rename those files BEFORE you put them on your flash card. Hopefully you're reading the CD on a computer so you can copy the files to your hard drive and rename them before transferring to the flash card. Hope that's of some help.

You need to cop MPC-Editor. That will solve this issue for you
