How much to fix a note Variation Slider?

I bought this XL2000 and now 2 weeks later finally found out the note variation slider doesn't work. How important is this slider? What functions will I lose that I can't do with the wheel? And most importantly, how much does it cost to have this fixed, replaced...so I can go back on this cat and get some money back? Paz.

if you have a little experience with electronics, you could fix it on your own.... in 90% of all cases you just have to open the slider and put the contacts back in shape

My whole slider broke off (i kicked??) about 3 years ago and i don't think its stopped me from doing enything.. i have used mine nearly every week since i broke it and it hasnt hindered me at all.. i dont think..

I'd like to know if there is anything that is 'Slider only' that can't be done without it.

I think the n/v slider is more important when playing live with the mpc.You can add some pitch changes or filter to the sample in real time.
Also,you can scratch samples with it just like on the mixer+ turntable.There was a post on the forum some time ago, with link to youtube awesome movie,where guy makes mad scratches with mpc 2kxl

would love to hear what the sample sounds like.. cause you can hear crabs but his fingers don't appear to be doing that.. its been so long since i had mine slider.. i have no idea what its capable of..

ok... you can not "scratch" like you are scratching with a crossfader on a mixer! what this guy is doing is just take the classic aaaahhhh sample, set the pad using it to note off and controll the pitch of it with the nv slider.
the crabs you can hear are just a result of pushing the pad very fast

djrespect - I meant the sound effect you can achieve with just pressing a pad (very fast apparently ) and playing with n/v slider.
Of course it wont be the same as mixer + turntable connection,never !!
