New to This ...Please help

I have an MPC 2000XL. I have several questions to begin with.
First, I want to use the drum pads to make a beat, record the beat, loop the beat, and then save it to a disk..how do I do this? And how do I retreive it once it's saved?
Second, when I record a beat with the drum pads...it seems to automatically speeded up or over dubbed with another beat when I play it back. Specifically, what functions do I set or turn off and on to keep the beat the EXACT way that I played it?
Third, where do I buy floppy disks that fit into my MPC? I can't download samples from my computer because my comptuter disks are too small for my MPC, and the floppy that came with my MPC is too big for my computer disk drive...does this make sense?

The first two : i'm sure you can figure that out by yourself with a bit of practice, and by reading the manual.
Small/big floppies? What's that all about then? The mpc uses normal 1.44 floppies. Unless you have a zipdrive installed in your mpc, they are a bit bigger. If this is the case you should buy a zipdrive for your computer as well. The come in IDE 3.5(internal) or USB (external). The bad news is this will cost you something like $50. The good news is they are 100 or 250mb instead of 1.44mb for a normal floppie.

yes, the mpc2000xl comes with the zip already installed...so i have to buy a zip for my computer to download samples off the internet?
what about the other questions? do you have time to answer them? the manual is crazy..it assumes you've already had the mpc for years!

The speed problem you described is probably being caused by an improper setting in the Tempo, Timing, or a combination of both. The most commonly used Timing is 1/16. Change this to OFF. When you have it set to 1/16 experiment with different Tempos. Make sure that you have the right Loop and Bars settings too. If the Loop is ON the sequencer is going to restart at the end of the Bars limit setting. When it does that you will be adding to or erasing your earlier work.
