sup yall
great info on the site. i have a midi question. i use the MPC as the main sequencer in my studio hooked up to a ROLAND XP-30. then i got a computer and got REASON for the NNXT sampler for multisamples and onscreen sequencing.
anyways my question is, how should i midi it all up? i need the xp-30 to trigger samples from REASON. i need the xp-30 to work with my MPC with its internal sounds. i need REASON to Midi Beat Clock sync with my MPC as master....what yall think?
PEACE

Go head and follow this chain.

XP Out->MPC In=MPC Out A->PC MIDI In.
MPC Out B->XP In.

Unless you need the PC to control something external, like the XP, this is straight. If you need to program the XP with software, MIDI Out of the PC into MIDI In 2 on the MPC, and set any track using PC sequencing to Out B so it'll control the XP. You'll of course want to set any software sequencer to MIDI Sync to the MPC's clock.

Make sure the MPC has MIDI Thru turned on. If you power up all three pieces, the MIDI clock from MPC will pulse to Reason (long as its checked on in Reason) and the note ons and offs from the keyboard will record/echo into/out of the MPC and play sounds out of Reason. (regardless of what channel you're playing on the keyboard, set the MPC channel to the channel of your NNXT in Reason. [set this at the top of Reason by selecting a channel and choosing the NNXT] MPC will convert any incoming MIDI data to the currently selected channel for that track)

Good luck!
