Problem with the Pads !?

I just bought a MPC2000XL (32mb + 8 Outs + FX + ZIP) at ebay.
Now when I had a first short look at the MPC (just switching thru the windos
and loading a prgm -> not more time yet) I'm not shure if the pads work right.
When I push them sometimes the sound plays twice (like a flame).
It seem's like it depends on the pressure I push.

Now I'm not sure if the prgm is the reason (velocity, loops....) or if the
pads are the problem, or I'm just to stupid ?!

Go into other and INT. all parameters set by previous user.

I wouldn't say that it's a problem. It may be that you just have to get use to the pads. When I first got mine, I thought that that doubling effect was weird, but it was just that I was new to it. Hopefully it's that and not a serious problem with your MPC.

Velocity will change depending on how much pressure you tap the pad with. If you press the full level button, each time you hit the pad it will play at the full volume.

The sound would play twice if you pressed the pad twice, even if it was pressed slightly. It will also do this if you hold the pad down and the sound is looped. Go into the trim screen, press F2 to go to the loop screen, then turn the loop off. This will make the sound only play once.

I hope I have just to get the feelin for the pads, but for me it seem's to be strange !

I've worked with other gear, (Keyboards, Drummachines, Turntables) and there was no problem...

If there are any other Tip....would be great

By the way it's crazy If I hit hard or quite soft everything is fine, but in between...

with FULL velocity and then you will get the "hang" of the pads and you can program better.

yeah, thats supposedly one of the features, i know its a lame one...but thats a double up feature thats supposed to be like a drummer bouncing his stick on the drum....but yeah, its normal just gotta get used to the feel of the pads main...pz

Yeah, that happened to me also when I first got my XL. You will get used to the pads after a while.

I think you're right.
I mean it's no problem to handel it, but it is a used MPC and I just wanted
to be sure....

ther just responsive and sometimes trigger twice if your finger bounces up and back down when you hit, keep going and soon you'll be fine...everyone i know has found this but it only lasts for a day or two until you get used to their responsiveness...

I have an MPC2000XL Studio Plus which I bought new. The pad triggering is perfect. This is no double triggering at all. I know exactly how frustrating it can be. The MPC4000 is infamous for double triggering. If it continues to bother you, then sell that MPC2000XL and get a different one. Double triggering should not happen with the model you own.

i agree, i hjad the problem when i first got mine. its all about snapping that wrist back nice and quick. if you think the pads are stuffed, you can test them out. i think its in OTHER. or MISC. another simple remedy is to use a midi kb to trigger the sounds, you wont get the doubling effects your are hearing.
