Custom paint job on MPC questiion

I realise there are several posts on this and realise some of you will be like ' what a waste of time/money/effort etc'

But for those who know ab it about the process I have a question or two.

Some posts have said no need to sand back the paint and espcecially not to the metal as it can act as a primer as is , then other posts say take back to the metal. So anyone who has actually done this, what is the deal..back to the metal or at least quite far down and through the original paint??

I dont get the issue with putting the words back on. Couldnt I just take the cover off and scan it or photocopy it and then make a template from this? Give the template to a friend who does screenprinting and have them put it on my MP?

How about vinyl lettering? Is this a bad option, it seems straight forward to me and cheap?

Or finally what about a stencil, to me this seems quite fiddly? Anyone explore this option?

hah,i just took off my faceplate on my mpc2000 an was thinkin bout spray painting it then going over it with gloss. =x. you know any sites that customize it?

Any one know the cost of this. I feel that after some of my last projects I think it is about time to do it. So I was wondering what the cost might be like. Nothing I need, but it would be cool as a mother....

lol,that one site charges $700 for a custom paint job,plus another 100 if you want a logo on it......yikes.

the price for perfection isn't cheap.

Yeah, people are usually able to do a decent job on the paint, but I agree, the lettering on the buttons is the hardest part to do.

Still going back and forth with the artist. Soon though.

so ....only thing holding me back is how to get the writing back on from the silk screen. Getting all the writing lined up so it can go onto the silk screen to print is sussed and not too difficult at all. Once on the silk screen a new problem has developed.

How do you get the silk screen to sit on the case to print...Well logically you'd clamp it, but how do you get the silk screen to sit on the mpc if the screenframe is bigger than the mpc, which is more than likely. Depending on your frame size the actual silk is gonna be bigger than your surface your trying to print on so there is nothing for the clamps to go on as the screenframe is gonna be hanging over the edge of the mpc. My hands arent so steady that I could hold the screen in place and push the ink through at the same time. Any one got a way tpo resolve this? Im not too keen using decals, I wanna go the silkscreen way

Only way I have come up with so far is to use 2 smaller silk screens and clamp them on one at a time , print the first half then do the second half...

any alternative thoughts??
