The big MPC mystery!!!!!????

Ok i just got a zip drive with zip disc from ebay for my MPC 2000XL
and just my luck after waiting 2 weeks to get my hands on a zip drive i already got probs........

The scsi cable im using came from a pawn shop from a older zip drive i bought but had to toss cause i couldnt find a power cable for it......
Could be a mess up cable????


The ZIP disc is formated for MAC, i dont think that makes a differance.....


Could it be a blown SCSI fuse in my mpc... I read up on some people who have a blown fuse but 98% of them said when they load up the zip it sticks loading..... Mines doesnt even load it just says no scsi device.....


Now here comes the mystery......

Could it be a faulty SCSI cable that looks like it came from 1988 i got with a another zip drive at a pawn shop????

Could it be a faluty drive i bought from ebay, although it seems to work perfectly????

The mpc cant read the disc cause its a mac disc????

The mpc blew a fuse??????

does your mpc recognize the drive without a disc inserted? What are the scsi id and termination set to on your zip drive ? (the 2 little switches on the back of your drive).

1. Make sure it is a SCSI and not a Parallel drive ( SCSI will have a Termination switch on the back and an ID Switch next to the pin connectors.
2. Set the ID to #5 and set termination of the drive to on.
3.Internally in the MPC select the SCS ID 5 for the drive you are using
4.Format the disk with the MPC
5.Try a PC Formatted disk , your MPC problably will not recognize a Mac Disk.
6. The cable could be bad as well
7. I would try one more drive before I deduced a blown fuse.

I set the termination to off

the scsi is set to 5.....

And by settin the mpc Internally to scsi 5 you do that by going to the set-up where it says "load, save, format, setup" and setting the primary device to scsi-5... If so i did that already.....

Don't know what to tell you...your zip drive might be faulty. I'd check it with another cable first before making the conclusion though.
