the 2kxl does not have a cd drive. im not sure waht you mean by what sample to get. i sample from vinyl. but overall i think you will be very happy with the 2kxl. if you have a lot of money to spend and you want a cd drive you can get a 4000.

thank you for reply
i cant afford the 4000... i wish i could

"All CDs are in standard ISO9660 format and organised into folders which means are completely compatible with the MPC2000XL, MPC4000, the new MPC1000 and all PC and Mac software - just load into your CDROM drive, select the sounds you want and start creating your next track. "

how do you connect the MPC to the pc to get the sounds on mpc

thank you

the only way is to transfer the sounds from you r pc via floppy or zip disks. they have to be wav. or snd format tho. they cant be mp3. but if your trying to send a beat to the computer you just need a descent soundcard. i bought mine for 150 the audiophile 24/96
