need help with slider

hi everybody. i need a quick help with my damn slider.
i bought a used 2000 xl and now (after reading the manual) i still can´t use this slider.
maybe it´s broken or...
is there some easy test?
maybe someone can help

It's broke. It `is` a moving part and moving parts tend to break over time. Just ask anyone with an Iomega drive.

is this an akai only piece or does anyone know a good alternative?

It is an off-the-shelf part (like 95% of the machine). Good luck on figuring out the right alternative. I do not think anyone knows what it is.

If it was me I would find a shop with faders.

i found alot of verv very very useful information!!!!!
more than i need at the moment, but nothing about removing or fixing this slider.
i write to akai/germany now... maybe they know something or tell me the price
