Sample cd- wrong wav file format

I bought a sample cd that contains 16 bit/44.1khz wav files but my mpc2000xl says "wrong wav file format" when attempting to load from my cd rom drive. Anyone know why this happens? Are there different ypes of wavs? if so is there a way of changing them so that they are compatible? Thanks.

Try to save it over in Goldwave. U can get it at download.com.

I use mac osx , goldwave is not compatible, any other suggestions?

i have a similar problem here.
i still have no cardreader or something, but i started to work with the pc too now.. (i used to only work with the mpc before)..

so i had the idea to save the samples i edited on the pc to a cd-rw and
load it in the mpc via cd-rom, but it doesn't accept the wav.file...

its on the disc but when i try to load it the display says:
"not PCM .WAV file"

what the fruck does that mean cuz it IS a PCM .WAV file?

its because it was 32-bit....

The cd I bought says on the cover that the wavs are 16 bit. Are there different types of 16 bit wavs??

It said so on the cover, but are they really 16 bit 44khz samples? Did you verify this on a computer?

Ive looked on a computer and it doesnt give anymore information other than that they are wav files.

Jesus, your always jumping down peoples throats on these forums. Its really unnecessary for you to speak to people in this way every time they ask a goddam question about anything. PCM wavs are uncompressed audio files. You have several types of wav format audio files, for example broadcast wav, which is also uncompressed, but again a different format. Confusing? Have a look over at wikipedia, or do a google on what you know.

I can understand Lamp's frustration, a lot of people just come here asking without bothering to do some simple research on their own...

No offence, but it is easier, quicker and less frustrating.

MPC 2000/XL only reads PCM wav.

yeh if u been around this joint for a while, you see the same questions over and over again, the card reader ones are my favourite, but i can understand cause went thru a bit of grief getting my shiz sorted. :twisted: i use Db powerAmp converter, once ive made my kit on the pc, all i do is select all and it my right click options i can convert them all to windows pcm, thats the problem with the internet theres so many formats and quality settings, for diffrrent sounds, and i have sourced my samples from 1000's of places,

Yeah, bottom line is it takes a lot of work. But if a little grief stopped me, I wouldn't be where I am today.

When I started out I didn't have the internet to turn to, just some friends who I had the chance to ask now and then, and a library full of books and keyboard magazine.

It is confusing all right, but with a little patience and passion you can go anywhere in life.
