Problem upgrading memory on 2000xl mcd

I have had some problems trying to upgrade my memory on my 2000xl mcd. I have purhcased memory chips from a few different places including VST. I must have tried about 6 different chips and none of them ever register in the mpc. Every time I put a new one in the memory still says 2MB and 10.9 seconds of stereo sample time. I have tried searching through the forum to try and find help on this but I didnt find anything that would help out my problem. As far as I can tell I am doing everthing right. Could this be a problem with the machine? any thoughts?

i have read the half a page on the topic in the manual over and over but it never really seems to help.

as far as i can tell the ram is inside the slots all the way. the holes on the side of the ram connect with those hooks that keep it in. i'll try again and see if it just needs to be pushed in deeper.

did you ever figure out the problem?

because I seem to be having the same issues with my xl. I've tried two different sets of sticks bought off ebay and none of them are being recognized.

i'm still having the same problem. i've tried different ram from different companies and the same results. i'm thinking of getting it serviced. kind of shitty since my warrenty seems to have run out and i got it like this brand new

wow i just bought mine too and got memory today and didnt work, did u have to have your's serviced and just curious did u get yours from musiciansfriend?

ima try another pair of sticks tommorrow, if that fails hell no wonder the price drop LOL!! just hope i dont get screwed too bad!!
