Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I've had my MPC for at least 6 or 7 years and it worked until recently when it stopped loading samples. Ok, true... I hadn't used it in a while but only because nothing i was working on needed beats like a used to make everyday. Anyway, it gave me "not enough memory" message even when i had nothing loaded. I was advised to get new RAM. I did so, installed it, and it loaded with no problem. So... i bring up some drums make a beat and start jammin' out when i notice there seems to be some digital distortion working it's way into the snare. I try saving and restarting but now i get the same "not enough memory" when i try to load a sound. Did my MPC claim another $40 pair of RAM sticks?

Ground yourself, ie, tap on some big bare metal a few times.

Open up your mpc, take out your RAM, place it back in there and make sure it's seated in the slot correctly, try again with your beats.
