Zip drives for mpc 2000 classic.

I have tried to search the forum on this ..

Do you need a Iomega zip drive with switches on the back to the mpc 2000?
On ebay some seller have a specific zip drive for the 2000, 3000 and another one for the 2000XL. What are the differences?

Are there different scsi cables for the 2000 and 2000XL?

The 2000 and the 2000xl have different scsi plugs on the back of the unit. As far as I know they work with the same zip drives, but the cables to connect them are different. The classic has a 25 pin scsi connector that looks like an old parallel port plug, but it's wired differently. Check your owners manual or http://www.scsiforsamplers.comfor the proper cables/drives for your mpc. If you're in the market for more storage you should skip the zip drive and go to an external card reader or hard drive for up to 1G of storage and better stability than zip.

Im talkin about an External SCSI Card Reader.(see link above). Also the MPC2000 can have an Internal Card Reader BUT it will REQUIRE Extensive/Expensive Modification.

Thanks for you answers. But should I find a Iomega zip drive with switches on the back?? I read that the switches should be in a certain way on the mcp 2000 classic..something with id 5.?

My scsi zip100 has a switch for channel 5 or 6. That's the only setup I've seen for scsi zips, but unless you've got stuff on zip already there's no reason to fool with it. Do yourself a favor and get the card reader.

If there is a 'termination' switch, it needs to be on.
