Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

So I just started having a really wierd problem with my MPC 2000xl Last night.

Every 5th time a sample is triggered (any sample but only when it's assigned to the pads, not in trim mode) there is a blast of staticy noise that is panned hard one direction and alternates which channel it come out of every time. I've tested all parts of my recording chain and determined that it HAS to be the MPC. This is realy strange and scares me a little.

Another thing I noticed is that when I assign FX to things the effects cannot be heard and this seems to coincide with the wierd static problem.

Can anyone offer me any advice or any sliver of help in how to approach this problem? Is my sampling chip shot? Is this salvageable? I certainly can't record any of my work until I solve this.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Open up your mpc and make sure all cards + memory are connected properly.

Touch the metal cover with the power plugged in to eliminate static electricity from your body before opening.

Hope this helps.
