Dag yall. Hopefully someone can figure this out.

Aiight I got my 2000xl. It had the floppy drive installed. I upgraded the OS to 1.2 (the newest one out). Then I followed the instructions for installing the internal MCD for the mpc2000xl. My power cord is legit (i made it like the one on the instructions) Now my flat ribbon cable is one for dual drives (it was the only one I could find (it says its a 40socket / 40 socket). Now when I went to turn on the mpc to test it... it says "cannot find floppy" or something like that... When I turn on the mpc, the lights from the internal MCD come on (green).... so I think the power cable I made is ok, but I cant figure out why it doesnt recognize the MCD as "ATAPI" like is says it should on those online instructions. Do I have the wrong type of IDE cable? Its driving me nuts! Someone please hit me up or PM me, and lend me a hand...

dag yall...my bad. I feel dumb. See, i was pushin' one end of the IDE cable to the mpc's IDE ATAPI slot...but it felt like i was gonna crack the motherboard...so i wasnt pushin it hard enough for it to sit in properly.... once i finally got the nerve to jam that mug in there all the way... it worked! I'm a happy dude now...

Don't feel dumb, there are alot of sensitive, expensive and time costly pieces to deal with...When I was replacing mine, I took off the WRONG ribbon...luckily I put it back on perfectly...

yeah man, i was stumped for a minute there... cuz i know i built the power cord right.... and the IDE cable seemed to fit.. wasnt till i was about to toss my mpc out the window that i decided to see if i could sit that end of the IDE cable just a bit closer... and of course... it went it A LOT further than I had previously expected it to...

Now... let the beats begin! chea!
