MPC 2000 compatibility with Macintosh

Hi,

I've recently purchased an MPC1000 from my local Guitar Center. I wanted to move all my songs/sequences/samples/programs from my MPC2000xl to my MPC1000. I have never used my Mac before with my MPC2000, so I don't exactly know what I'm doing. When I insert my zip disk into my mac, I can see the files fine, however, the "All Sequences and Songs" and "Progams" files have a PC icon, as though they are not compatible with Mac. When I drag them into the MPC 1000, the files seem to copy (I can see all the song and sequence names), However I can't actually load anything. When I try to load, I keep getting an error message on the MPC1000 saying "wrong file". Is it possible my Mac is somehow corrupting/reformatting the files during the x-fer?

Of course, this would all be easiest if I could simply do a Midi File Dump from the 2000 to the 1000, but it seems the 1000 can't do such a thing.

Any suggestions on getting data from the 2000 to the 1000 would be greatly appreciated.

I heard that some folks are working on software to facilitate this very thing. But, if you can't wait, you can always go back to your MPC2000XL and save each sequence as a Standard Midi File. I always forget which type is best to save it in. Here's some info below that I found in an article a while ago. Use what suits you.

"There are 3 different "Types" (sometimes called "Formats") of MIDI files. Type 0 files contain only one track, and all of the MIDI messages (ie, the entire performance) are placed in that one track, even if this represents many musical parts upon different MIDI channels. Type 1 files separate each musical part upon its own track. Both Type 0 and 1 store one "song", "pattern", or musical performance. Type 2 files, which are extremely rare, are akin to a collection of Type 0 files all crammed into one MIDI file. Type 2 is used to store a collection of songs or patterns, for example, numerous drum beats."

After you save them in the appropriate type, then you can copy those PC file looking sequences into the MPC1000 it should see them as readable midi files and not just MPC files.
