Number Screen

I just worked on a beat for hours and
when I tried to change the program name,
the screen suddenly became full of random numbers
and letters and time codes. The bottom
tabs read header, event, bar, tempo, seq, reg.
I can change between these screens, but there
seems to be no way to get back to the main screen.
Anyone know what this screen is?
And how to get out of it, so I can save this beat?

The dreaded number screen.

I've had it happen to me, and I've read of a few people on here who say it's happened to them.

I have never heard of anyone solving this problem... seems like a weird glitch, I got it when sequencing for a real long time. Shit worked fine again after turning it off and back on.

Maybe somebody else has a better answer but you might have to bite the bullet and just turn it off. It's a tough way to learn to save on a regular basis while you're working.

once i just left it for about 30 and came back and pressed open window. i used to get this casually back in the days when i was working with a juno106, i narrowed it down to the sysex gargle the mpc was recording i think someone here also posted something saying the mpc sh1ts itself, when theres a bit of sysex automation.

THAT CRAZY CODE POPS UP WHEN YOU HAVE RAN YOUR MPC FOR 30MINS-5HOUR AND HAVE ALOT OF RAM MEMORY USED UP. THERE IZ NO WAY TO SAVE WHEN THIS HAPPENS! ALWAYS SAVE AFTER YOU HAVE MADE YOUR SEQUENCES. SAVE YOUR .ALL & .APS FREQUENTLY!

PS Does this happen with other models of MPCs?

Lemme guess, unless I missed this, this is the 2000 classic, right?
I used to get that sh** all the time with mine. A coulple of times,
I was able to get out of the matrix, but alas, most times the agents
got me.

It's funny, you can press different buttons to view different
lines of code, and scroll thru different pages. Maybe a programmer
or tech could tell us: does the fact that you can alter these screens
with button combos mean that you can exit this mode? I mean,
Is there a proven way to fix such an error and go back to the main screen?

Actually it happened with my XL.
Glad to hear my machine is not the only
one glitching. According to Lamp
once you're in you're in. It is crazy
how you can alter the code though.
I was wondering if I was altering
my programs or sequences...
