Hey I was wondering if anyone knew how to take sequences from Cubase and put them on the MPC for using in live situations. Is this even possible?
Which MPC? (nevermind, forgot I was in the 2000/2000xl section...but, I'll leave all else unedited).
Generally though: You won't be able to import Cubase .cpr files, nor any other native Cubase file into the MPC, obviously. You could export standard midi sequences from Cubase however, and import those into the MPC. You could also (generally) import your samples that the midi data was triggering into the MPC also, so long as they have the correct format (wav, etc), sample rate and wordlength. Set the correct midi track to control the correct samples (correct pads/notes) and you have a somewhat cumbersome but usable (maybe) conversion.
You will not be able to load long audio files, long vocal mock-ups, any effects or processing that aren't printed to the content (bounced), nor markers, nor any other product specific-Cubase subjective content. Hell if you're attempting anything except small samples, short loops, and/or midi.....it most likely won't work, unless you're on a 4000 (etc) with more storage and memory.
Honestly, it's not worth the effort in my opinion, nor would it provide effective results....unless it's a very simple "midi sequence, triggering samples" scenario. If you're on the 4000 you could probably manage the longer audio files, but otherwise.
I understand why you'd want to use your sequences live, but what I don't understand is why you'd want to bring Cubase content over to the MPC...which can be more than "rewarding" work. Me? I'd just take a laptop and the mpc, or a laptop and Live....or all of the above.
