samplin on the mpc 2000....help me please!!!

i'm new to the mpc. i usually use reason but i couldn't pass up a 2000 for $100. anyways, i just wanted to know what was the best and most effective way to chop up samples. plese help.

As for chopping up samples.....record your sample into the MPC, go into Trim Mode (Shift + 5) and then go into the Edit screen. You then have to set the start and end points of each zone that you want to chop out of the whole sample you have loaded.

Check you've got the start and end points set how you want by pressing and holding down the 'Play X' button (to listen the the zone) - adjust each parameter accordingly.

Then (I think) you hit the 'Do It' button and it will ask you to give your new zone/chop a new name.

Unfortunately the classic 2k doesn't have the auto zone/chop function which later models have, so you have to create each zone 1 by 1. It can be a laborious process, so don't go mental if it takes you a long time.

I chop samples through recycle on my PC then create a .pgm with MPC editor. I then transfer all the files to Zip and I'm off. I find this the easiest way for me. it drives me crazy trying to do it manually on the 2k.

I do it manual I'm quick at it now, **** a mouse lol
