NEED HELP!!! ON 8 OUTS FOR MPC200XL

Ive tried everything even reading all of the forums and reading the manual over and over again. Heres the problem: I make a beat and try to asign each instrument track and sample to the 8 outs but can only get 1/2 , 3/4, 5/6, etc. but not individual outs like 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. But, even if I try to go ahead and asign the track to 1/2 etc. I cant hear a damn thing coming out, and the levels are up. It used to work about a year ago. Could this be a bad Operating System version? Ive opened the mpc and looked inside and dont see any bad connections or obvious defects? Any pros out there that can help or relate to this problem? Any ideas please.

You sampled your sounds in stereo so they require two outputs, one for each channel L and R. To get around this you have to convert your samples to mono so they only use one input OR you can assign two of your samples(tracks) to 1/2 then pan one of them all the way left and one of them all teh way right. The problem with all your sounds coming out of 1/2 might be because you make your sequence all on one track? Make sure to scroll to the next track when you record your next sound.

ill try to look in the samples to see if they are mono or stereo and try to convert them to mono if they arent. But every beat I make does have all the samples and drums seperated in different tracks. Shouldnt I still be able to hear any outputs from the 8 outs if they are asigned? Have you heard of operating system version causing this problem if there was one?

sounds like your audio is all in stereo in the MP, convert em to mono, then you'll get a channel each...

Yeah, I did that...all of that, coverted the sounds, got the 1,2,3,4 etc. but still no sound. All tracks are seperated, levels are up, cables work, what the F**K. Could the board be bad or operating system? This is annoying the shit out of me. It used to work I dont know what has changed. Any more ideas or troubleshooting technics. Electronic techs, Service techs, MPC Pros, Ideas Please...You guys have been helpful so far but nothing seems to be working.

After you convert your samples to Mono, are you reassigning the mono sample to the pad? ie, it will look something like this "Snare----------L"
Sometimes I convert, but forget to reassing the sample.

yeah...I did all of that...Im just frustrated I think Ill just forget about it and try to trouble shoot another day....There is one other thing for all you music producers out there.
Does any one have a firepod, Cubase 4, and MPC hooked up in midi...and how did you get it to use the mpc as the sequencer and asign the virtual istruments to each channel, while useing the mpc to record the midi file...That way I dont have to record a track at a time and loop the whole recording to make a beat....

I have that set-up but have not even used Cubase yet.... I'm bout to start learning it sometime very soon. I'm also picking up the 8 outs next weekend. We're gonna have damn near the same set-up

Have check to make sure the levels are up on the MPC. When you change over to ind. every thing starts out with the levels set at 0. Also if you are going into a software like Cubase...you have to make sure you have the mappings right so that they are going into the right inputs.

Sorry I did not read the whole post so if some said this already...just lets me think that more than one of us think a like.

I bought my 8-out about a year ago and I still have few issues going.

1. Once in a while all the individual outputs go nuts. Signal breaks down and start making noise. I think the reason is in the actual board. This problem is easily solved by rebooting but it's still annoying.

2. Let's say I put a stereo sample "A1" to outputs 1/2. Is there any possible way to pre-pan that stereo track? While using Mpc's own stereo output there's a pan adjustments, but not in individual output mode. Now everybody is wondering why I cant pan that sample in external mixer or recorder. There's still "only" 8 outputs. If I assign like 15 samples through 2 stereo tracks (4 outputs I usually use for drums only) I would like to have a chance to pan those samples in mpc instead of external mixer.

I could re-sample stereo sample to mono and then assign "A1______L" to the output 1 and "A1_______R" to the output 2 and then by changing channel volumes make same effect but I see that kind of a long way job.

Not sure I understand this one, but you can not pan ind? It is what it is. 1 Ch. It has no left or right? But I might be missing something...

Is there a way to pan individual stereo output in mpc?
