Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Whats up everyone,

I've been using my blue MPC 2000xl MCD for a couple of years now, I bought the shit when it was new. My problem is that I can't for the life of me figure out how to save properly. I've made hundreds of beats but only have the protools sessions as evidence. I have been able to save nothing on my MPC and was wondering if anyone could help me out. The way I save is...

1. shift, save
2. save a program & sounds
3. and then save the sequence

I realized I may be saving to the hard drive, but I can't get my memory cards formated, or at least it says it does and then a half second later says it already formatted but I can't save to Flash ROM b/c there is no flash card or something, I don't know, but I"m having a **** of a time, can someone give me some advice please?

Oh, check out my shit if you got the time, I'm by no means an amateur, but this shit makes me feel dumb as hell.

Thanks ya'll

You cant save your stuff to flash rom . You have to save it to whatever card you have inserted to your mpd, besides that you are doing everything right.

Ok, well here is the scenario. I'll make a beat, go to save program & sounds, then the sequence, now, it'll do that. But it will also overwrite some of the sounds that were left on there from another program & sounds, and when I go to load the older program & sounds, it'll load some of the new sounds and some of the old. If it wouldn't be too much trouble, would you be able to tell me how you personally save your stuff?

did you give each program for each song a different name and did ya name the sequences for each song something other than sequence 1,2 etc.

i dont know if this helps, but ...

I would get a compact flash card, format it in fat or fat 16, whichever your computer can do.

When you make your beat, make sure that you have your samples named differently. (ie if you sample them on the mpc, don't leave their name as sound 1, sound 2, etc.)

Go to save, select "save all programs and sounds." Rename the program file something else also. Make sure that you are saving it to your card reader.

Then select "save all sequences," and rename it also.

That should do it.
