no. and in some ways they are very different (timestretch, zone sampling, some kind of recycle-like automatic beat cutting, can play four programs simultaneously, can assign sequences to pads, etc.) . go to midicase.com for a run down on the differences. it ain't just cosmetic.

however, that doesn't mean you should trade in your classic 2000 for an xl. its not just what it can do, its what you can do with it.

ps: i use an old school 2000, and im sure other people on the forum do as well, so between us we should be able to answer all your questions about it.
